You have completed 10 years in Bollywood. How has your journey been?
I still feel that I am starting up. I have done all sorts of work during my struggling days because everyone suggested me to do whatever comes your way. I was a VJ in a show of ETC. I have hosted a show. This is how money flew in my pockets. Later I realised that people have started indentifying me only as a VJ so I decided to quit. I did not want to but due to lack of opportunity I did remixes. I had a belief that remixes ridicule the original track. In Baby Doll chapter 2 I sang Rangeela which was well received by all.
How did you bag your first song in Bollywood?

How did you bag your first song in Bollywood?
In my initial stages I used to call up everyone and ask for work. Those days few people received my calls but one fine day Vishal Shekhar did and they called me for auditions and said that they would let me know whenever the right opportunity came. I got disappointed because everyone said the same thing but they never called me again. On the contrary Vishal actually called me within a week. Vishal said “I have something for you. You portion is very small, see if you want to do it.” I just said I am coming to your studio right now. I got my first ever break with Cham Se in the movie Dus.
Any regrets?
I regret being a part of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Not because I did not want to but because I was not as much prepared for it. I was entering in the midst of the show when everyone had already learnt dancing. It was like throwing you in the ocean when you do not how to swim. Later I was ok with it and I tried my best but injured my leg. I also felt bad for my choreographer Javed Sanadi who was observing Roza and still worked day and night. I did not record even a single song in that week. After quitting the show when I went for a recording I literally cried and realized how important singing is for me.
Which work do you like the most?
I am a very reserved and a shy person; I can never act. I got many offers to act but did not want to spoil their films. Recordings and stage performances both have different challenges. However I love performing on the stage even if I am down with fever at 104 temperature.Just throw me on the stage and I am the happiest baby.
When can we see the Kakar sisters together?
We would love to and I just hope a film comes out with three heroines and all three of us are casted. I am looking forward to doing a single with both my sisters Prakriti and Sukriti Kakar, we have songs ready with us but we are aware of the downfall in the industry with not many listeners and are waiting for the right time to arrive.
Which are your upcoming assignments?
I have sung couple of songs for Amal Malik, and for film Junooniyat and many other films, can’t name them right now. I have composed tracks for my upcoming single on Children’s Day. All songs are ready and we are about to begin the shoot. I have plans for composing music for Hindi films as well the announcement of which will be made soon.
